At Belle Chasse Academy our Theatre Department believes in the benefits learned through the collaborative nature of theatre. It is our goal to teach collaboration, as well as cooperation and the ability to communicate. These skills are taught using all facets of theatre: script writing, acting, and improvisation. The quarter long Middle School classes typically end in a Fine Arts recital where theatre students perform alongside other disciplines taught here such as dance, band, piano, and stringed instruments. The last two years Belle Chasses Academy has hired a local theatre company, Uptown Music Theatre, to come to our school and produce original musicals written by Delfeayo Marsalis. With a choreographer, vocal coach, director, and acting coach involved, these have been an incredible learning opportunity for our students. In 2013, we moved in to our new Fine Arts Center, which has been a wonderful home for both the performers and audiences alike.
